At Proauto when you have a 3000 mile service done we also do a 29 point inspection. When we do these Inspections we find maintenance items which our Service advisors will call you and discuss the condition of the maintenance issue. The reason we recommend following the recommended Service Intervals in the Owners Manual or your vehicle is to prevent you from having EXPENSIVE repairs due to lack of maintenance. Upper pictures is a picture of a timing belt that left customer stranded . This customer's repair went from a $500.00 maintance repair to over a $1000.00 repair because this was an interference motor .

The lower picture  is a picture of a rear differential on a pickup that would of been a $100.00 maintance rear axel fluid change to a $900.00 rear differential overhaul.
